Research objective 1 (RO1) – Feed Science

6.11.2014

6.11.2014

This objective is designed towards characterization of the feed quality within Danube region and identification of technologies that will improve the food and feed safety.

RO 1 edits problems related to raw materials, traditional and new processing techniques, the contamination and persistence as well as carry-overs of chemical and microbial contaminants. Focus is placed here on the possible Salmonella contamination of feed (e.g. extraction meal from the Danube region), and the importance of aflatoxins in feed production and its carry-over in the food production.

The diagnostic and analytical methods and possible decontamination strategies in the field of feed production as well as prevention measures are at the center.

Therefore, on one hand the status quo and the peculiarities in the countries bordering the Danube is determined, on the other hand, it identifies potential vulnerabilities, and approaches for effective detection and prevention, with special consideration on regional and local specificities in the production of feed and food.
